The course is designed to develop the skills required to plan and implement an early childhood program. Students will apply their learning experiences about children through participation in a play-based preschool and possibly an internship at an elementary school or child care program. Career opportunities related to childcare at the associate and baccalaureate degree level are explored. Students should be reading at 8 th Grade level or above. Students must also be able to work in a group setting as well as individually and must be willing to take on a leadership role with same-age classmates along with preschool age children. Successful completion of this course is the basis for the Kishwaukee College Child Care Technology Certificate and Associate Degree (A.A.S.) Program. ECE 112 is the course for which students may earn college credit for Early Childhood Education 2.
