This course is open to Juniors and Seniors and focuses on the anatomy of the skeletal, muscular and nervous systems. Students will receive skills training and in-class lectures including anatomy, common sports injuries, basic treatment, rehabilitation protocols, concussion recognition and management as well as taping and bracing procedures. Students will also explore sports nutrition and basic strength and conditioning principles. Students will perform 10 hours of professional job shadowing outside of regular class time. The job shadow experiences will be arranged by the instructor and are designed to meet students’ future career interests. Upon successful completion of the course, each student will receive a Red Cross Responding to Emergencies First Aid and CPR certification.

It is suggested that students possess a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. More importantly, students must display a good attendance record at their home school. Much of the class is designed with skill checks and curriculum that can be easily understood with good attendance in class.
